Mets' Wilmer Flores lost 10 pounds dealing with illness
New York Mets manager Terry Collins said that shortstop Wilmer Flores lost 10 pounds in five days while dealing with strep throat.
Flores is on the team's National League Division Series roster, but Ruben Tejada is expected to start until Flores regains his strength.
Both Flores and Tejada are very different players, but their regular-season wOBA only ended up one point apart. Flores brings additional pop with a .145 isolated slugging percentage, while Tejada gets on base at a .338 clip. Flores is the superior defender with a -3.3 UZR/150 compared to Tejada at -11.5, but the Mets will at least be able to get by until he is able to return.
