Marlins may shop Marcell Ozuna this offseason
Miami Marlins outfielder Marcell Ozuna may be shopped this offseason. Owner Jeffrey Loria "is down" on Marcell Ozuna and the club "will consider trading him," reports Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.
Jackson adds that "some members of the front office" would like to hang on to Ozuna, but the outfielder looks to be in Loria's doghouse, and his vote obviously counts the most. Ozuna spent a surprising amount of time in the minors this season, and it appears that was probably at least in part due to Loria souring on him.
Slated to turn 25 next month, Ozuna hit a disappointing .259/.308/.383 with 10 homers in 2015 and will be arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter. However, he slugged 23 homers and drove in 85 runs in 2014. Ozuna would surely draw plenty of trade interest if the Marlins do indeed make him available.
