Diamondbacks fire pitching coach Mike Harkey
Arizona Diamondbacks chief baseball officer Tony La Russa announced Monday that the team's entire coaching staff will return in 2016 except pitching coach Mike Harkey.
What It Means:
The Diamondbacks rebounded for a 79-83 season just one year after dropping 98 games.
Harkey's firing is a bit of a surprise as the team finished 17th in xFIP and 10th in the National League. They showed improvement as a whole in the second half, though the lack of season-long development in several young pitchers may have been a contributing factor.
