Padres will not retain Pat Murphy as manager
The San Diego Padres announced Sunday that interim manager Pat Murphy will not be retained as manager.
Murphy took over when Bud Black was fired early in the season. Murphy's final record at the helm of the Padres will go down as 42-54.
After spending big money in free agency, this season will go down as a disappointment for the Padres. They finished 21st in our power rankings with a -0.25 nERD. Their division mates -- the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants -- were second and sixth respectively, making the road a tough one for whomever the team chooses to take the helm.
