J.A. Happ fans seven as Pirates secure home field
Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher J.A. Happ struck out seven batters over six scoreless innings on Sunday as the Pirates defeated the Cincinnati Reds to claim home field advantage in the National League Wild Card game against the Chicago Cubs.
Happ allowed just three hits and three walks on the afternoon.
He has been outstanding in his time with the Pirates, going 7-2 with a 1.85 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 69 strikeouts over 63 1/3 innings. Once considered more of a luxury addition at the trade deadline, Happ has played a major role for this Pirates team and will be counted on heading into the postseason.
