Giants' Jeremy Affeldt, 36, is retiring from baseball
San Francisco Giants pitcher Jeremy Affeldt has announced that he will retire from baseball at the end of the season.
Affeldt is in his 14th season in the majors. He has been with the Giants since 2009 after previous stints with the Kansas City Royals, Colorado Rockies, and Cincinnati Reds.
Affeldt had struggled this season with a 4.51 xFIP, his highest mark since 2007 in Colorado. This comes a year after Affeldt had a rebirth, posting a 3.23 xFIP over 62 appearances for the eventual world champions.
