Rangers shut down Adrian Beltre for year

Texas Rangers manager Jeff Banister said that third baseman/designated hitter Adrian Beltre has been shut down for the year.

What It Means:

With the season winding down and the Rangers out of contention, this move is reasonable for the 38 year-old. It will allow for guys like Drew Robinson and Will Middlebrooks to get more at bats over the final few days of the season, as well as some of the other Rangers young players.

Beltre will end the year with a .311/.382/.533 slash line, with 17 home runs, 71 RBI, and 47 runs scored over 387 plate appearances in 2017.
