Kyle Schwarber on Cubs' bench Wednesday night

Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber is not starting on Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Rays.

What It Means:

Schwarber cranked a solo shot on Tuesday night while playing designated hitter for the defending champs, but Jon Jay will take over at DH on Wednesday while Ian Happ draws the start in left field for tonight's interleague matchup with left-hander Blake Snell and the Rays.

After batting .178 (277 plate appearances) with 13 homers in the first half, Schwarber has gone 41-for-164 (.250) with 15 taters since the break. numberFire's models project him to turn in a .229 batting average with another 2 home runs, 6 RBI, and 5 runs scored in 41 plate appearances over the remainder of the year.
