Mariners' David Phelps (elbow) undergoes surgery to remove bone spur
Seattler Mariners pitcher David Phelps underwent surgery on Monday to remove a bone spur from his right elbow.
According to the Seattle Times' Ryan Divish, Phelps' recovery time is six-to-eight weeks, and he's expected to go through a normal offseason throwing program. Since being acquired from the Miami Marlins, Phelps appeared in just 10 games, tallying a 2-1 record with three holds and a 2.70 FIP in 8 2/3 innings.
On the year, Phelps went 4-5 with 21 holds and a 3.55 FIP over 55 2/3 innings of work. He will look to continue his effectiveness next year at age 31.
