Oakland Athletics catcher Bruce Maxwell is out of Tuesday's lineup as the Athletics take on the Detroit Tigers on the road.

After going 2-for-4 with a walk in yesterday's start, Maxwell will hand over the catching duties to Dustin Garneau, who will bat ninth against the Tigers' Chad Bell tonight.
