Scooter Gennett (hand) absent from Reds' lineup again on Thursday
Cincinnati Reds second baseman Scooter Gennett (hand) is out of the starting lineup again on Thursday versus the St. Louis Cardinals.
This is the second straight absence for Gennett after he left early on Tuesday due to inflammation in his left hand. Jose Peraza will start at second base on Thursday and lead off the Reds' order versus right-hander Luke Weaver and the Cardinals.
In 127 games this season, Gennett has posted a .297/.347/.538 slash and .835 OPS with 24 home runs and 85 RBI. Assuming he returns this weekend, numberFire's models project him to turn in a .288 batting average with 2 home runs, 8 RBI, and 7 runs scored in 57 plate appearances over the remainder of the year.
