David Price activated, will work out of Red Sox bullpen

Boston Red Sox pitcher David Price will work out of the bullpen for the remainder of 2017, manager John Farrell confirmed Thursday.

What It Means:

This comes a day after Farrell said it would be "aggressive" to put Price back in the Red Sox' rotation as a starter. The idea is that the 32-year-old left-hander will be able to work in a multi-inning relief role out of Boston's bullpen, wiping out any sort of potential fantasy value over the final couple weeks of the season. He's been out since July 22 with an elbow issue.

Prior to injury, Price posted a 3.82 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and 22.1 strikeout percentage across 66 innings this season while going 5-3 in 11 starts. numberFire's models expect him to turn in a 4.00 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with 4 strikeouts over the final stretch of the season.
