Padres' Jose Pirela (finger) seeing a doctor on Tuesday
San Diego Padres second baseman/outfielder Jose Pirela is seeing a doctor on Tuesday regarding his jammed pinky finger, as reported by the San Diego Union-Tribune's Dennis Lin.
The team wants to make sure that the injury isn't anything more than it appears. If it isn't anything more, Pirela could be available tomorrow after missing tonight's contest in Minnesota, but his availability isn't certain. The Padres could decide to play it safe with the promising 27-year-old. Matt Szczur will man his spot in left field for the time being.
Having accounted for 10 home runs, 38 RBI and a .366 wOBA so far this season, Pirela is projected at 1 home run, 6 RBI and a .279 average in 47 plate appearances the rest of the season.
