Astros acquire Justin Verlander from Tigers
The Detroit Tigers have dealt Justin Verlander to the Houston Astros.
The deal got done just before the midnight deadline on Thursday. Reports first suggested that Verlander nixed the deal, but according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal, the trade has been approved by Verlander. The Tigers will receive a package of prospects headlined by pitcher Franklin Perez and outfielder Daz Cameron.
Our models project Verlander for a 3.85 ERA and 1.20 WHIP with 33 strikeouts in 35 1/3 innings remaining this year.
