Chicago Cubs southpaw Mike Montgomery improved to 5-6 on Monday night versus the Pittsburgh Pirates, allowing just 1 run on 6 hits over 7 innings while striking out 4 and walking none.
What It Means:
Montgomery had thrown 7 shutout innings until giving up a leadoff homer to Jordy Mercer in the eighth. It's unclear whether or not Montgomery will stay in the rotation once Jon Lester returns from injury, but if he does then he will carry plenty of fantasy upside.
