Mets' Yoenis Cespedes (hamstring) headed to DL

New York Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes is headed back to the disabled list with a hamstring injury, according to general manager Sandy Alderson.

What It Means:

Cespedes missed six weeks earlier in the season due to problems with the same hamstring. This injury is expected to be just as severe and with the Mets out of playoff contention the team may decide to shut him down completely. If that's the case then the 31-year-old will finish 2017 with 17 homers, 42 RBI, and a .292 batting average.

Our models project Cespedes for a .300 batting average with 2 home runs in 34 plate appearances for the duration of the season.
