Matt Holliday

Yankees may wait to activate Matt Holliday (back) from DL

The New York Yankees could wait until September 1st to activate first baseman/outfielder Matt Holliday from the disabled list, per FanRag Sports' Jon Heyman.

What It Means:

Holliday has struggled to a 3-for-17 start in his rehab assignment at High-A so the Yankees could want him to get more work in before returning. They're probably less likely to rush him back with Greg Bird (ankle) returning any day now. In the meantime, Garrett Cooper and Chase Headley will man first base for the Bronx Bombers.

With a projected 97 plate appearances the rest of the season, our models expect Holliday to return 4 home runs, 4 doubles and 13 RBI when he's back in the lineup.
