Alex Gordon

Alex Gordon not back in Royals' leadoff spot quite yet

Kansas City Royals outfielder Alex Gordon (groin) will be moved back to the leadoff spot if he shows that his legs can handle the strain, manager Ned Yost said Thursday.

What It Means:

Gordon just returned from a Grade 2 groin strain this week, so the Royals are easing him back into things. Hitting leadoff must be more physically demanding than batting sixth, which is where Gordon is hitting tonight. Alcides Escobar will be the regular leadoff hitter for the time being.

In 316 plate appearances, owns a .370 wOBA. It's only a matter of time until he's back in the leadoff spot. We have Gordon hitting two jacks with a .757 OPS the rest of the way.
