Marlins' Edinson Volquez (knee) definitely out for the season
Miami Marlins manager Don Mattingly said that starter Edinson Volquez is "definitely" out for the year, according to the Miami Herald's Clark Spencer.
At 34 years old, Volquez was placed on the team's 10-day disabled list with tendinitis in his left knee. But, after undergoing two MRIs, he hasn't made much progress and will take the rest of the season to recover from his ailment.
In 17 starts, Volquez produced a 4-8 record with a 4.34 FIP and a strikeout rate of 20.4% this season.
