Mariners get Erasmo Ramirez in trade with Tampa Bay

The Seattle Mariners acquired reliever Erasmo Ramirez from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for reliever Steve Cishek.

What It Means:

Ramirez came up with the Mariners organization after they signed him as undrafted free agent in 2007. He made his big league debut with the club in 2014, but was traded to Tampa Bay before the start of the following season. The 27-year-old right-hander is versatile and can work out of the bullpen or in Seattle's rotation.

Ramirez owns a 4.80 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and 19.5 strikeout percentage (K%) across 69 1/3 innings (26 appearances) this season while posting a 4-3 record in eight starts. numberFire's models project him to twirl a 4.44 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, and 15.6 K% in 42 2/3 innings for the remainder of the year.
