Brandon Crawford out of Giants' lineup

San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

What It Means:

After missing six days with an oblique issue, Crawford played all 14 innings of Monday's loss to the Dodgers, going 0-for-4 with a walk and hit-by-pitch. He stayed in the game after being hit, but he walked gingerly to first. It's unclear if his absence is related to the oblique, the hit-by-pitch or is purely precautionary after Monday's lengthy affair. Ehire Adrianza is starting at shortstop.

Always a defensive wizard, Crawford is in the midst of a breakout season with the bat, posting a career-best .343 wOBA, easily outdoing his 2014 clip of .309. Crawford's wOBA ties him with Troy Tulowitzki for best among shortstops. We have Crawford projected for a .712 OPS, four homers and 17 RBI the rest of the way.
