Garrett Cooper making MLB debut for Yankees on Friday night

New York Yankees first baseman Garrett Cooper will make his MLB on Friday versus the Boston Red Sox.

What It Means:

The Yankees acquired Cooper from the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday and promptly called him up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for tonight's start of the second half against left-hander Drew Pomeranz and the Red Sox. He's batting sixth on Friday and should see regular playing time at first base for the foreseeable future. Ji-Man Choi is on the Yankees' bench after manning first in the last game before the break.

Cooper was crushing it for Triple-A Colorado Springs this season, evidenced by his .366/.428/.652 slash across 320 plate appearances, to go with 17 taters, 82 RBI, and 64 runs scored in 75 games.
