David Freese

Angels could activate David Freese (finger) Monday

Los Angeles Angels third baseman David Freese (finger) is expected to rejoin the team Monday and could be activated before the team faces the Oakland Athletics.

What It Means:

Freese has been out of the lineup since July 22nd with the injury. The Angels have slipped in Freese's absence, falling to .500 and 3 1/2 games out of the second American League wild card spot.

Freese wasn't providing a whole lot to the team prior to his injury with a .240/.309/.397 slash and 11 home runs in 353 plate appearances. However, the Angels rank last in the league in wOBA since the All-Star break, so his bat can only help. It just may end up being too little too late as the Angels' playoff odds have tumbled to 12.9 percent according to our algorithms.
