Blue Jays showing interest in Miguel Montero
The Toronto Blue Jays are showing interest in Chicago Cubs catcher Miguel Montero, who was designated for assignment on Wednesday.

The Blue Jays are among several teams interested in acquiring the veteran backstop, according to FanRag Sports' Jon Heyman. The Cubs could trade (rather than release) Montero, who was criticized for his rant about pitcher Jake Arrieta on Tuesday night. If he were to land in Toronto, Montero would likely back up Russell Martin and be utilized as a DH at times.
In 44 games and 112 plate appearances, Montero has tallied 4 longballs, 8 RBI and a .346 wOBA.
