Mariners' Drew Smyly (elbow) experiences setback

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Drew Smyly (elbow) has experienced a setback, pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre confirmed Tuesday.

What It Means:

This explains why Smyly was scratched from a second simulated game that was scheduled for Wednesday. He's been out all season with a strained flexor bundle in his pitching elbow. There's currently no timetable for the left-hander's return.

The Mariners stand at 40-40 on the season and currently check in at 14th in numberFire's MLB Team Power Rankings.
