Angels' Mike Trout lands on disabled list for first time with torn ligament in thumb
Los Angeles Angels Mike Trout has been diagnosed with a ulnar collateral ligament tear in his left thumb.
Trout suffered the injury while sliding head-first into second base on Sunday. Even if surgery isn't deemed necessary, he's looking at multiple weeks on the shelf as heads to the disabled list for the first time in his seven-year career. Ben Revere will draw most of the starts in left field while Cameron Maybin moves over to center for the Angels.
The 2016 American League MVP is slashing .337/.461/.742 with 16 home runs, 36 runs scored, 36 RBI's and 10 stolen bases in 206 plate appearances (47 games) this season.
