Giants considering demotion for Christian Arroyo

San Francisco Giants infielder Christian Arroyo being optioned back to Triple-A Sacramento "seems to be on the table," writes Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle.

What It Means:

The Giants will need to make room soon for Aaron Hill (forearm) and Conor Gillaspie (back) on the active roster, but Arroyo hasn't done much to help his job security with his play at the plate. However, Eduardo Nunez's current hamstring issue could allow the 21-year-old rookie to hang around in the majors a bit longer.

Arroyo is 6-for-49 with 12 strikeouts over his past 13 games, leaving him with a disappointing .191/.242/.304 slash and 24.2 whiff rate across 124 plate appearances (30 games) in his first big league action.
