Oakland Athletics outfielder Matt Joyce is batting leadoff as Rajai Davis gets a day off on Tuesday.
What It Means:
Joyce hasn't started a game since May 18 as the A's have faced three consecutive lefty starting pitchers. Tuesday will be his eighth time batting leadoff as Davis gets a day of rest. Mark Canha will patrol center field in Davis' place.
Joyce has gone 4-for-27 (.148) with one home run and three walks in his 32 plate appearances as the leadoff hitter this season. He is batting just .198 with a .280 wOBA overall.
