Tampa Bay limiting Evan Longoria to designated hitter versus Tigers
Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria will serve as the designated hitter Monday against the Los Angeles Angels.
The Rays want to give Longoria a little rest without giving him the entire day off. Daniel Robertson is starting at the hot corner on Monday while Michael Martinez starts at second base. Steven Souza is riding pine versus right-hander J.C. Ramirez and the Angels.
Longoria owns a .250/.318/.420 slash and .739 OPS in 198 plate appearances (44 games) this season. He has six home runs and 23 RBI's on the year.
