Nolan Fontana replacing Danny Espinosa at second for Angels
The Los Angeles Angels will start Nolan Fontana at second base in his major league debut on Monday against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Danny Espinosa will take a seat as Fontana bats ninth against Rays right-hander Jake Odorizzi. The 25-year-old infielder is replacing C.J. Cron on the Angels' active roster. Espinosa is batting just .152/.242/.280 through 42 games this season.
Fontana turned in a .374/.426/.360 slash with five home runs, 23 RBI's and three stolen bases in 166 plate appearances (38 games) at Triple-A Salt Lake before the promotion.
