Rangers won't have Cole Hamels (oblique) for at least eight weeks
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Cole Hamels is on the 10-day disabled list with a strained right oblique.
Hamels was scratched from Tuesday's scheduled start against the Houston Astros due to tightness in his right side. He was later diagnosed with an oblique strain and is expected to miss at least eight weeks. The veteran southpaw is in the midst of his age-33 season.
Hamels twirled a 3.03 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and a career-worst 11.5 strikeout percentage across 32 2/3 innings prior to the injury. He's 2-0 in five starts this season.
