Cole Hamels goes eight strong in Rangers' win over Royals
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Cole Hamels spun eight innings of one-run ball in Friday’s 6-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals.
It was his first win of the season. Hamels was in control throughout, limiting the Royals to just three hits while walking two and hitting a batter. Hamels owns an impressive 2.77 ERA through his first four starts, though he hasn’t topped five strikeouts in any of them. The veteran southpaw gets the Minnesota Twins next at home.
Our models project Hamels for a 24.6 percent strikeout rate, 8.3 percent walk rate, a 3.83 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in 178 2/3 more innings pitched this year.
