Reds' Devin Mesoraco (hip, shoulder) out for Opening Day
Cincinnati Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco (hip, shoulder) is very unlikely to be ready for Opening Day, manager Bryan Price said Sunday.
Mesoraco hasn't been able to get a full game in this spring and he's been limited to just 14 at-bats, so this doesn't come as much of a surprise. He should be ready before the end of April, but Tucker Barnhart and Stuart Turner will fill at catcher in the meantime.
As of now, numberFire's models project Mesoraco to hit .232 next season with 11 home runs and 36 RBI's across 320 plate appearances.
