Rangers agree to a $49.5M extension with Rougned Odor

The Texas Rangers and second basemen Rougned Odor are in agreement on a six-year, $49.5 million contract extension, according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.

What It Means:

Odor was to be eligible for arbitration in 2018 and a free agent in 2021. The deal, however, locks up the 23-year-old until 2022 with a team option for 2023. The second baseman is coming off a breakout 2016 season, where he batted .271 with 33 home runs, 88 RBI's, and 14 stolen bases.

NumberFire's algorithms project Odor for 26 home runs, 85 RBI's, and 12 stolen bases while batting .271 over 592 plate appearances in 2017.
