Giants' Will Smith sidelined due to elbow inflammation
San Francisco Giants reliever Will Smith has been shut down with left elbow inflammation.
Smith received an MRI that came back clean, but manager Bruce Bochy will hold out his set-up man to assure that he is is 100 percent for the start of the season.
The 27-year-old southpaw turned in a 2.95 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 34.7 strikeout percentage across 18 1/3 innings (26 appearances) for the Giants last season after being acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers in August.
