Yankees' Dellin Betances at odds with front office

New York Yankees reliever Dellin Betances wasn't happy with comments made by team president Randy Levine after losing his arbitration hearing.

What It Means:

Levine criticized Betances' agent, Jim Murray, during a press conference on Saturday. "If Dellin is upset about going to a hearing, now we know the result, he should go talk to his representatives." Murray responded by calling the press conference "bizarre" while Betances called Levine's comments "unfair." With Betances disgruntled, it will be interesting to see if the Yankees entertain trade offers for the All-Star reliever. The 28-year-old is under contract through 2019.

While Betances had a 3.08 ERA across 73 innings pitched this year, he had a minuscule 1.75 xFIP -- the second-lowest xFIP among qualifying relievers in 2016. Betances sustained a 42.1 percent strikeout rate and 9.4 percent walk rate while earning 40 combined saves and holds.
