Tyler Austin (fractured foot) in a boot, out six weeks for Yankees

New York Yankees outfielder Tyler Austin will be in a boot for three weeks and shut down from baseball activity for six weeks after being diagnosed with a small fracture in his foot.

What It Means:

The injury occurred at batting practice when Austin fouled a ball off his foot. He's going to open the season on the disabled list and may be on the outside looking in for a roster spot after the Yankees brought in Chris Carter this offseason.

Austin slashed .241/.300/.458 with a .324 wOBA across 91 plate appearances (30 games) during his first big league action last season. He added five home runs, but struggled with a 40.0 strikeout percentage.
