Cubs get Wade Davis in trade with Royals

The Chicago Cubs acquired reliever Wade Davis from the Kansas City Royals for outfielder Jorge Soler.

What It Means:

The trade comes with some risk due to Davis' questionable health, but the Cubs must not be too concerned since he cleared the physical. If the 31-year-old is able to provide his services, this should prove to be a great add for the defending champ's bullpen.

Davis turned in a sparkling 1.87 ERA in 43 1/3 innings this season, but his 3.68 xFIP was significantly higher. Despite posting a strikeout percentage (26.7) in 2016 that was down from totals in the 30's the past two seasons, it remained above league average (21.1 percent).
