Red Sox considering Eduardo Rodriguez over David Price for ALDS Game 5

Boston Red Sox pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez is a possibility to start over David Price in Game 5 of the American League Divisional Series, according to manager John Farrell.

What It Means:

"There could be," was Farrell's response when prompted on the idea. Rodriguez had a much stronger second half of the season (3.24 ERA) than first (8.59 ERA), but he's yet to see his first taste of postseason action. David Price was tagged for five earned runs over 3 1/3 innings Friday as the Red Sox fell behind 2-0 to the Cleveland Indians.

Price's postseason shortcomings have slowly become a defining narrative for the 31-year-old left-hander. He owns a dismaying 5.54 career-ERA in 66 2/3 innings of playoff work, although his 3.54 xFIP is right in line with the 3.21 ERA and 3.37 xFIP that he's recorded over his nine-year Major League career.
