Francisco Liriano

Blue Jays' Francisco Liriano will miss rest of ALDS

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Francisco Liriano (concussion) has been removed from the Blue Jays' ALDS roster.

What It Means:

Liriano suffered a concussion after getting hit in the head with a line drive in Game 2 against the Rangers. He will miss at least seven days, but has a chance to return to the Jays' bullpen if they advance to the ALCS. Danny Barnes has taken his spot in the pen for the time being.

Liriano pitched well after coming over to Toronto from Pittsburgh. In 10 starts north of the border, he posted a 3.34 ERA, but overall 2016 was a down year for the veteran southpaw. He had a 4.69 ERA and 4.23 xFIP over 163 innings between Toronto and Pittsburgh. His 4.38 SIERA was his highest since his last full year in the American League in 2011.
