Yankees' CC Sabathia to have cleanup surgery on knee

New York Yankees starting pitcher CC Sabathia will soon undergo a routine cleanup on his right knee.

What It Means:

The procedure is thought to be of the minor variety and will address an arthritic condition in Sabathia's knee. He's expected to be good to go by beginning of 2017.

Sabathia turned in a decent 3.91 ERA on the year, but his 4.36 SIERA is his worst in over a decade. He finished with a 19.8 percent strikeout rate and 8.5 percent walk rate through 30 starts (179 2/3 innings) this season.
