Brett Gardner

Brett Gardner (rest) out of Yankees lineup, Chris Young batting second

Brett Gardner is being given the night off Tuesday against left-handed pitcher Henry Owens, giving way to Chris Young, who is batting second and playing left field.

What It Means:

Young has had video game numbers against left-handed pitching this season - a slash line of .363/.426/.696 to go along with a 1.122 OPS and a .470 wOBA. All of those numbers put him in the elite category against lefties, so you'd be crazy not to use him against Henry Owens, who is making his major league debut Tuesday night.
