David Ortiz

Boston's David Ortiz does it again Friday night

Boston Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz slugged a go-ahead two-run homer to lead the Sox to victory over the Toronto Blue Jays 5-3 on Friday.

What It Means:

The only thing that could put the icing on what has been a tremendous retirement tour for Ortiz would be a World Series win, because at this point Big Papi has done everything. He capped off a four-run rally in the bottom of the seventh with a two-run bomb down the right field line to break the 3-3 tie. He added an RBI single as well to put him tied for the AL-lead in RBI's at 127.

Ortiz is slashing .316/.402/.625 this season with a .421 wOBA over 619 plate appearances. His wOBA leads all major league hitters, as does his slugging percentage this season. He has even lowered his strikeout rate in his final year to a career-best mark of 13.6 percent. What can't he do?
