Cardinals not expected to pick up Matt Holliday's option
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday's $17 million option for 2017 is not expected to be picked up by the club, reports Jon Heyman of TodaysKnuckleball.com.
Heyman added that there won't be any renegotiated deal either. Holliday turns 37 in January and has struggled to a career-low .242 batting average (92-for-380) this season. He's been sidelined since August 11 with a fractured thumb.
Holliday will likely end his 2016 campaign with a .242/.318/.450 slash, .330 wOBA and .208 ISO across 424 plate appearances. He posted a career-low .768 OPS with 19 homers and 60 RBI's in 107 games this season.
