CC Sabathia limits Red Sox to one run in Yankees' victory
New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia dealt 7 1/3 innings of one-run ball, striking out eight in a 5-1 win over the Boston Red Sox on Thursday.
The Red Sox were resting a number of starters after clinching the AL East, but it was still a strong showing by Sabathia, who has allowed only one run on eight hits in 14 1/3 innings over his last two starts.
Sabathia has a decent 3.91 ERA on the year, but his 4.36 SIERA is his worst in over a decade. He also owns a 19.8 percent strikeout rate and 8.5 percent walk rate through 30 starts (179 2/3 innings) this season.
