Astros' Carlos Correa leaves early on Friday with shoulder injury

Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa was removed from Friday's game against the Los Angeles Angels after re-injuring his shoulder on a diving attempt defensively.

What It Means:

Correa attempted to catch a ball in shallow left field in the ninth inning and landed on his shoulder. He aggravated an injury he has been nursing over the last few weeks, so with Houston 2.5 games out of the wild card race with eight games to go, this is a huge blow if he is forced to miss extended time.

Correa is slashing .272/.361/.456 with a .351 wOBA over 632 plate appearances in 2016. He has 20 homers, 93 RBI's and 13 steals on the year, but his strikeout rate is up this season to 20.6 in his second major league season, while his isolated power has fallen 50 points to .183 since his rookie campaign.
