Johnny Cueto (groin) likely to miss next start for Giants
San Francisco Giants pitcher Johnny Cueto (groin) is likely to miss his next scheduled start, which would be Sunday against the San Diego Padres.
Cueto was forced out of his start on Tuesday with what was later revealed to be a Grade 1 groin strain. Sunday may not be the only start he misses, as that kind of injury typically has a 1-3 week window for recovery.
It has been another solid year for Cueto, with a 2.79 ERA and 3.65 SIERA through 31 starts (212 2/3 innings). His 22.0 percent strikeout rate and 5.2 percent walk rate are both better than his career averages.
