Matt Duffy (heel) scratched as Rays take on Baltimore
Matt Duffy was scratched from the Rays' starting lineup Tuesday versus the Orioles.
Duffy is scheduled for season-ending surgery at the end of this week to deal with a lingering left Achilles injury, but the plan had been for him to play a couple more prior to the operation. Nick Franklin will start at shortstop for Tampa Bay on Tuesday.
Duffy has been unimpressive from the dish this year, slashing .258/.310/.357 with a .292 wOBA and .099 ISO through 366 plate appearances.
