Clayton Kershaw (back) could return for Dodgers after simulated game

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (back) could be activated based on how he feels during his simulated game on Tuesday, manager Dave Roberts indicated Monday.

What It Means:

Kershaw completed a 60-pitch bullpen session on Friday and is scheduled to face batters on Tuesday. He hasn't pitched in a game since June 26, and while it would be aggressive for the Dodgers to bring back their ace southpaw so soon, but the minor league season is winding down to a close. Even at less than 100 percent, Kershaw would be a huge addition for both the Dodgers and fantasy owners down the stretch.

Kershaw owns a stupendous 1.79 ERA and 32.9 strikeout percentage (league average is 21.0 percent) across 16 starts (121 innings) this season. While his 2.30 SIERA is his highest since 2013, it would be the best major-league mark in 2016 among qualified pitchers.
