Athletics' Sonny Gray will resume throwing this week
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Sonny Gray (forearm) is scheduled to begin a throwing program this week.
Gray was shutdown three weeks ago with a strain and inflammation in his right forearm. He has shown some improvement lately, but there are no guarantees that he will return before the end of the season.
Gray has a sky-high 5.74 ERA and 18.1 percent strikeout rate over 116 innings pitched this season. His punchout percentage is down over two full percentage points from 2015 and hitters own nearly a 33.9 percent hard hit rate against Gray this season. He is posting a career-worst 4.15 xFIP in 2016.
